Irresistible Church: Truth -- Your Questions Answered

by oneadmin    |   Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 9:41:00 PM

I want to thank those who participated during the message on Sunday by texting their questions. We ran out of time and were therefore unable to answer the questions during the service. So as promised, we will answer them here on the blog.

Question 1: When the enemy attacks us and we recognize the spiritual, what do we do? How do we use our weapons properly?

Answer: It is helpful to know that the nature of the attacks of the enemy are spiritual. This is essentially what Paul was trying to get us to understand in Ephesians 6. What we think is physical battle is in actuality a spiritual battle. Therefore, the weapons that we use are spiritual, not physical. It would not be appropriate to use physical weapons to fight a spiritual battle. As Pastor Conway noted during the sermon, the one offensive weapon in our armor is the Word of God. But this is also a spiritual weapon. One way we can use it properly is in quoting it during times of difficulty or attack. Scripture memorization makes this possible.  So the primary way we fight spiritual battles is using our spiritual weapons. However, this is not to say that there is no use for physical weapons, it just should not be the first thing we run to. For example, a person struggling with financial selfishness, can use scripture as their primary weapon against the enemy when he tries to tempt them to spend their money on something they do not need resulting in them being unable to tithe. This would be a proper use of a spiritual weapon. However, this person can also take steps in the physical realm to help with this, such as asking a friend to hold them accountable or budgeting their money properly.

Question 2: What if the situation is not physical or visible but the battle is invisible. Can you share a word for that?

Answer: Yes. Remember, everything that is physical and visible is directly influenced by something that is spiritual and invisible. So if you (being in the physical realm) sense that a struggle is taking place, your situation is not just spiritual. It has manifested itself in the physical. Returning to Ephesians 6, the battle is fundamentally spiritual although it manifests itself in the physical realm. So to answer your question, if you can sense it, then it is not just spiritual and invisible.

Thanks again for your questions. If you did not get a chance to ask your question, please feel free to contact us at info@onechurchhome.org
